Lump or Cyst excision
Small lumps or small cysts are usually located just below the skin or in the fatty layer. They can often be removed under local anesthesia unless they are extremely large. We will send the tissue off to be analysed (for pathology) so we have a definitive diagnosis. You will get a scar. This scar settles down over time in most patients, but some patients have a tendency of making bad scars. The risks of this operation are small but include infection, bleeding, recurrence of the lump or cyst and if the lump or cyst has been there for a while, in can leave you with a small indentation due to the pressure it caused to the underlying tissue.
